What are Beavers ?
Beaver Scouts are the youngest Section of the scouting family and are aged between six and eight years old. Children can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday. They can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, between seven years and six months and eight years six months.
Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. They usually meet together once a week in a Beaver Scout Colony.
Beavers don't go camping but do get to visit the older sections at Group Camps for day trips. There is sometimes an opportunity for them to stay for a night if they are accompanied by one of their parents or carers. This is an exciting experience for them and gives them a taste ofthe camping activities that feature quite strongly in the programmes for cubs and scouts.
